Hi everyone!
I'm an accidental farmer. Here's my story in a nutshell. (Cue the Green Acres theme song) My husband and I were a couple of city folk who decided to buy some land in the country. We bought a 10 acre parcel with dreams of mini-golf and a go cart race track. But fate had a different plan. The land was ag zoned. So with zero experience I decided to become a market farmer. It had to be organic because I didn't want to handle toxic chemicals. Got a good organics adviser, googled a bunch of stuff. Took out a second mortgage, reinvented myself and botta-bing Genesis Organic Farm was born and I'm a farmer. Fast forward to now. We have a small commercial crop of Pluots, a u-pick farm, an organic garden program and a CSA. We are now in the process of incorporating permiculture practices in our organic program and planning to become an agritourism destination in the future. We are living proof that anything is possible.
