When you visit Forested, you find a healthy ecosystem with a high diversity of plants and wildlife. We believe that our produce is some of the most nutritious available, because our growing methods resemble those of our pre-industrial ancestors. We grow without using any synthetic pesticides or fertilizer. Our selection includes foods you can’t buy anywhere else, nutrition you can’t get anywhere else, and incredible new flavors.
What is a Forest Garden CSA Season Share?
You will receive a bag of forest garden produce every other week from early May through late October, or 12 boxes over about 30 weeks. Each bag has an average of 8 seasonal items, often including a generous portion of freshly harvested mushrooms!
These are some of the items you might find in your CSA box:
Mushrooms: Shiitake, Oyster, Winecap
Herbs: Anise Hyssop, Fennel, Toon, Table Flowers
Nuts: Hazelnut, Chestnut, Pecan
Greens: Sea Kale, Turkish Rocket, Sorrel, Dandelion
Vegetables: Tomato, Onion, Peppers, Yellow Squash, Cucumber
Fruits: Apple, Pear, Plum, Pawpaw, Persimmon, Passionfruit
Berries: Mulberry, Black Raspberry, Cherry, Strawberry
Other items: Duck Eggs, Cut Flowers, Crafts
Because we are a small farm, we pause delivery of your CSA share when we put on our farm-to-table dinners (between one and three per year). As a benefit of your CSA membership, you receive 50% off the ticket price on up to (2) tickets to a dinner at Forested! These dinners feature forest garden cuisine prepared by top area chefs.
Your boxes can be picked up at the farm every other Friday afternoon between 3 and 6pm.
Note: because we’re in beta with this CSA, we’ll prorate your share price back to you if we can’t fill your box for any of the pickups.
